Neerja, the recent bollywood film featured on Indian air hostess Neerja Bhanot, played by Sonam Kapoor was released 3 weeks ago. Slowly, the movie is pacing up in gaining audience attention, all thanks to the authentic action delivered(finally) by Sonam Kapoor.
After a series of failures and negative reviews on her action part, Sonam proved her caliber to the best extent she can. On this woman’s day, lets talk about this genuine film depicting the beauty and bravery of Indian woman.
Neerja Bhanot, born on 7th Sep 1963, the daughter of Harish Bhanot and Rama Bhanot, was a flight attendant for Pan Am, Mumbai. She was a divorcee, model, an air hostess and most importantly, the woman who exhibited the utmost bravery at the right time and saved 300 lives.
She was the youngest to receive Ashok Chakra Award, the highest bravery award given in India. And she was the first one to receive Tamgha-e-Insaaniyat (Awarded for showing human kindness) from Pakistan. What she did and whats all about her courageous story? Watch Neerja !
About the performance in Neerja Movie:
Coming to Sonam Kapoor, she was brilliant in the role of Neerja. At last, she found a perfect role to portray her talent and confidence. From being the cute mummy-ki-bachi to the brave girl who fought with the terrorists, the girl who struggled through her marriage and her dreams, Sonam just nailed it.
Director Ram Madhvani did a fantastic job in using all the resources, actors and their capabilities. The movie not only tells about the hijack of the flight, but also the struggles faced by Neerja as an Indian woman in her marriage life. And the connection between the two sub-plots is brilliant.
The supporting cast (Terrorists) acting was too good that created the perfect chaos in the plot. Good work by the editor Monisha R Baldawa, the snapping between the scenes adds a great feel. Adding to all these, the timely music by Vishal Khurana played its part too. Finally the output was a genuine biopic thriller based on a real story, which keeps us on the edge till the end. The emotions were perfect, sentiments worked out and the bravery just ruled it.
Already crossing the records of woman-centric films like Queen and Mary Kom, Neerja saw a whooping 200% profit in business. Made on just 20 Cr budget by Fox Star Studios, the film already grossed more than 80 Cr. Well, its not about figures though, its all about a good film. Every woman should watch it and learn from it. Every father should watch it and support what Neerja’s father did. After all, a good film is not about money, its all about sending a message!
